Portrait

When I am working with a portrait, the attention is naturally focused on the person. Portrait in its simplest form is a representation of the person's appearance. But as a portrait of art, the painting should express the person's character and unique  identity. The person is also placed in an environment that enhances the person's individuality.

I use different techniques and styles to achieve a maximum artistic expression. Unlike photography, a portrait is a elaborate work of art that is designed over time in a dynamic process. The illustration series for "The Adams Family" use techniques that reflect the characters' eccentricity and somewhat grotesque character - 'a gothic freak'.

At the beginning of my career, during my studies, portrait painting on the street was a way to make money, and it was designed in a more naturalistic genre. Gradually, a more expressionist and non-conformist style was developed. In this phase, two early portraits from 1990, "Self-Portrait - Columbine" and a portrait of "Theater Director Alexander Masyukov as Hamlet" were purchased by the Museum of New York University, section of Soviet non-conformism.

I gladly accept orders for painting portraits.
